Project Red is a student-driven project formed in 2019 at the Reggio Emilia Department of Sciences and Method for Engineering

It was born from the desire to create a reference point in the area for students with a strong passion for robotics and aerospace sector and eager to apply the knowledge acquired during their degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Management Engineering.

DISMI, as part of its institutional teaching and third mission activities, promotes the scientific-cultural initiative PROJECT RED and, through its students and Faculty Advisors, supports it.

This is an ambitious project that, in addition to the challenge in the space field, also aims to establish a link between the students and the local business/industrial realities, creating mutual opportunities for growth.

The team's main activity is to design and build a prototype rover for extraterrestrial exploration with which to compete in the European Rover Challenge.

The DISMI professors involved in the project, through dissertations and internships, are:

- Prof. Andrea Spaggiari: Faculty Advisor for the mechanical design part;

- Prof. Fabrizio Pancaldi: Faculty Advisor for the telecommunications and ICT part;

- Prof. Fabio Immovilli: supervisor for the power electronics and energy management section;

- Prof. Cristian Secchi: supervisor of the robotic control part.
