In order to obtain the final qualification, students are given the opportunity to acquire the credits they choose also by taking examinations offered by other Departments of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

In principle, the student has complete freedom. However, the Committee would like to point out that examinations that have already been recognised, e.g. as the result of a previous substitution of internship with examinations, or those already taken in the bachelor's degree when enrolled in the master's degree may not be taken as elective examinations. Finally, courses offered by other Departments with a high overlap factor (in the order of 50%) with courses available at DISMI may not be taken as elective courses.

The chosen course must also be active in the current academic year within the ex D.M. 270/04 offer.
